Secret email about the Post Office Scandal. Shh!

From the archives – Judgment 2: Extremely Aggressive Litigation

Morning secret Sunday emailers

A year ago today I was putting the finishing touches to one of the most popular blog posts on postoffiicetrial.ccom

It’s called “Judgment 2: Extremely Aggressive Litigation” and it details the second in what has so far been 5 judgments in the Bates and others v Post Office litigation.

The Post Office had tried to get some claimant evidence ruled inadmissable because it would cause bad PR. The judge was DEEPLY unamused.

It’s quite staggering how much water has passed under the bridge since then. I know I often bang on about how long this litigation is lasting, but if you think about what has happened in the last 12 months (three more judgments, two trials, a recusal application, millions of pounds in costs being awarded to claimants, Alan Bates giving a victorious interview on the pavement outside the High Court), it’s all been a bit of a rush. Anyway take a trip down memory lane – to 12 months ago and the second judgment of this litigation.

Mediation Meditations and Burning Money

If you missed them, I put a couple of blog posts out this week. The first is about the claimant Subpostmasters considering mediation. and the second is a trawl through the latest Post Office annual report.

Both I think are incredibly significant, but neither seemed to get much attention. Perhaps that’s a lesson – don’t put two blog posts out at the same time. I might give them another social media push later next week.

Have a lovely Sunday.

Nick
