Secret email about the Post Office Scandal. Shh!

Third, Fourth, Fifth and potentially Sixth trial news

All the trials news

Hello secret emailers.

It’s gone midnight, I’ve just got home from a News at Ten shift (I hope you all saw me manage to summarise the last stage and entire Tour de France in 1m20s) and I should be in bed as I’ve got to be at Channel 5 News at 9am.

But I couldn’t resist letting you know I’ve put up another blog post.

It’s called The Long March to, er, March and it’s about what will and won’t be part of the next trial. And what comes next. And how many trials there might be.

I’ve had a good read of the transcript of the last case management conference, and chatted to a few people and basically came to the conclusion we are in for a maximum of six trials. Which means we’ll start to see some damages awarded in the summer of 2021.

That’s assuming the Post Office gets nothing out of the Court of Appeal and continues to lose in the way it has been so far. If the Post Office gets anything out of their Lordships at the Court of Appeal, all bets are off.

My last blog post was about the CCRC’s annual report, and the one before that was a fisking of the Post Office’s application to the Court of Appeal to appeal the first trial judgment. You can read that here if you need something to help you sleep.

I haven’t yet got round to putting up the transcript of last week’s Case Management Conference, but I will when I get a moment.

Right – I really must go to bed. Good night.

Nick
