What’s your purpose? It’s not a question I’m able to answer with any certainty, but I’m pleased to tell you that as of today the Post Office has a Purpose.

Are you ready for this? The Post Office’s purpose is:

“We are here, in person, for the people who rely on us.”

No sniggering at the back.

Nick Read, Purposer-in-Chief says: “This… is not a strapline. It is here to guide us and inform our behaviours and decision-making. To provide clarity around what it is we’re here to do.”

The source who very kindly provided the text of this internal announcement told me:

“This is going down very badly as corporate rubbish.”

I think I had better not comment.
