Secret email about the Post Office Scandal. Shh!

Chirag does not want your money

Judicial Review development…

Hello again.

I am sending you this missive because I have got some news. Earlier this week I told you that Chirag Sidhpura (one of the nicest men I have ever met) is applying for a Judicial Review of the Post Office’s Historical Shortfall Scheme.

This is still true. But I also said that Chirag is hoping to crowdfund his application, and suggested that you might want to pledge some money.

Well, in the last few days the Post Office have said that if Chirag’s application to get a judicial review fails, they will not pursue him for costs, which means he does not need the £10K he was crowdfunding for.

Those of you who have pledged will NOT be charged – the campaign will just lapse without reaching its target. The Post Office will still contest Chirag’s application, but at least they won’t take him to the cleaners for trying.

That means we can all focus on the substance of the judicial review rather than the fundraising.

Read more about it in a piece I have just published here.

On the radio

Possibly because of Tom Witherow’s excellent piece in the Daily Mail on Monday, I was called up the same morning by Ian Collins’ producer at talkRADIO who asked me to address the nation about the latest twists and turns in the Post Office scandal. This I did, and you can listen to it here. Click on the 1430 bit and start listening from 1434.

Ian is a passionate supporter of this story and, like many of us, mystified as to how it has never been front page news.

Tony Collins is on fire

Tony Collins commissioned the first ever investigation into the Post Office Horizon scandal.

I think he has reached a conclusion about who is complicit in the whole fiasco and he has written another tour de force. Do have a read, and if you are so minded, why not subscribe to his blog so you get his articles as they are published. Just put your email address in the little box on the left hand side of the webpage (desktop version only). It’s that easy.

All best

Nick
