Secret email about the Post Office Scandal. Shh!

Independent investigator castigates Post Office systems

Ron Warmington speaks!

Hello secret emailers.

It’s been an exhausting few days and I’ve rather run out of steam so I will quickly point you in the direction of some work I have done since the judgment on Monday.

Ron Warmington, managing director of Second Sight, the forensic accountants engaged by the Post Office to investigate Horizon and Subpostmaster claims, has gone public. Ron has been close enough to smell the stink coming from the Post Office and he doesn’t like it.

If you think there should be some sort of inquiry into what has happened over the last 20 years, I would forward the link to the piece to your MP.

If you are going to do that I would also suggest you send your MP the statement written by Lord Arbuthnot demanding a judge-led inquiry into this fiasco.

Because of the amount of work I’ve got on, I haven’t had much of a chance to go through the judgment. I have got as far as the end of Angela van den Bogerd’s evidence and will be writing that up as soon as I get a chance.

I did put up (pretty much verbatim) Fraser J’s two-and-a-half thousand word exploration of the meaning of the words “robust” and “robustness”, which is a delight for people like me.

Radio Gaga

I was interviewed by Vanessa Feltz on BBC Radio London at 7.18am this morning (so 18 minutes into the programme). Have a listen here. There’s a pre-recorded segment with Seema Misra then quite a long interview. I warn you I got to bed at midnight last night after going to see Rod Stewart and then had to get up at 5am to get into the studio for Vanessa. You can hear it in my voice.

Finally, if you haven’t already read it, do have a look at the quote from Alan Bates (founder of the Justice for Subpostmasters Alliance and lead claimants in the recently-concluded litigation) half way down the piece I wrote after the judgment was handed down. He makes it clear: there’s still lots of work to do.

Thanks to all the new secret emailers for signing up – just hit reply if you want to respond. I have received lots of correspondence over the last few days. Please forgive my for not replying to many of you. I really do value your comments and I do read every single email I get sent.

Yours

NIck
